GETTING STARTED

Getting Started

Need to make progress toward getting your estate planning done or updated? We make the process easy, so you can just take the next step, or round all the bases for a home run and getting it done. It all begins with making a two to three hour appointment with Deirdre.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

When  you make an appointment, which you can do on-line or by phone,  we will have a preliminary quick phone conversation with you to make sure we are a good fit for each other, then  send your homework to complete and return in advance of your appointment with Deirdre.

During your appointment with Deirdre, she will:

a.   Provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions about Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney, and ask you to provide her with your estate planning goals for your incapacity, your assets, your family, and your beneficiaries;

b.   Review the plan you have in place, describe the likely outcome of that plan, and help you determine if it satisfies your current goals and provides you the peace of mind that you desire.

c.   If we conclude the appointment without an engagement for additional estate planning services, the fee for this consultation is $750;

d.   If we conclude the appointment with an engagement  for additional services, then the appointment evolves into a plan design meeting, during which you and Deirdre design your plan as she provides effective and strategic counsel. She will quote and collect the flat fee for this engagement and provide you with your signing date.  Deirdre loves to be able to waive the separate $750 appointment fee so when you schedule your appointment, ask how we can do that for you.

FOR YOUR REVIEW

About 2 weeks after your appointment, you will receive a summary of the estate planning decisions you made, so you can review them, and either approve them as-is or work with our team to make changes. Once the summary is in final form, we are ready to begin drafting your documents.

SIMPLY SIGN YOUR DOCUMENTS

The next step is to return to our office to sign your documents. Our team of  two witnesses and a notary will make sure your documents are executed properly, that you have the specific instructions you need to properly fund your trust or add transfer on death beneficiary designations to your property, and make sure you leave with your original estate planning documents and a digital copy.

For 30 days following your signing ceremony, we will remain available to you, at no additional cost, to provide guidance and support as you finish your trust funding and asset re-titling.
