Life and Legacy Estate Planning

Serving the Lake of the Ozarks region, Mid-Missouri and Beyond

Welcome to O’Donnell Law Center, which we have grown to think of as “Your Estate Planning Place”.

I imagine you have arrived at our website because you have some level of awareness that estate planning is important, and you are beginning to research what you might need and how the process works.   Or perhaps because you have a plan that you prepared years ago and never updated, or you have recently moved to Missouri.

Whether you are here to kick the tires a bit, or to roll up your sleeves and jump right in to planning, I am glad you are here, and I hope you determine you are in the right place……your estate planning place.

We make the process of estate planning easy for you and the people and charities you love.  We do this first through education, so that you have all the information you need to understand what Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney do and how they work, and can make informed and empowered decisions about whether a Will-Based Plan, a Trust-Based Plan, or  Missouri’s Default Plan (which you have right now if you are a Missouri resident and have done no estate planning) is right for you and your family.

We feel so strongly about the importance of education, that we limit the number of new clients we accept to create the time I need to be in the community presenting free Wills and Trusts educational seminars, and in my private meeting room, having no-obligation, one-on-one Wills and Trusts educational meetings.

Even with the education, we know how easy it is to continue to put this important planning off until later.  There’s always tomorrow, right?  I certainly hope so.  But my team and I approach each plan with urgency, knowing that something can happen in an instant.  So, we have a three-meeting process where we provide clear instruction on what we need from you to start your planning.  Once we have that, together we design your plan, then bring it to life.  At the third meeting, we help you shift your focus to the importance of maintaining your plan and conducting regular “check-up-and-reviews,” through either our complementary maintenance plan, or our paid membership subscription, both of which are designed to keep your plan current and up to date over time as your assets change, your family members and family dynamics change, and the tax laws change.

Most of us want to maximize what we pass on to the people we love, (with none of our assets being lost to the Missouri Treasurer’s Department of Unclaimed Property, which as of 2021 holds 1 billion dollars of unclaimed assets, largely from financial accounts and safe deposit boxes),  and with none of our loved ones getting caught up in court or in conflict.   Our estate plans and our 3-meeting process is designed with these goals in mind.

You are invited to one of our upcoming free, live educational seminars, or our free on-line webinar.  And I would love to send you a free copy of Wear Clean Underwear: A Fast, Fun, Friendly – and Essential – Guide to Legal Planning for Busy Families.  Between the levity that the funny title brings to this somber topic, and the education that it provides, I find that people who read it feel more at ease and informed about estate planning than they ever have before, which makes it easier to make choices about getting started.  Simply click here to request your free copy.

If you still have questions about whether we are a good fit or whether you are ready for estate planning, you can schedule a 15-minute call with Andrea, our Outreach and Intake Director.

If you are ready to jump right in to your personal, one-on-one education and plan design session, you can schedule online by clicking here.

Many of our happiest clients started just where you are right now.  Once they got started and went through our estate planning process, they couldn’t believe how easy we made it, and they loved the peace of mind that came with knowing their estate plan was curated just for them, fully activated, and alive and well, ready to take care of them and their family when they no longer could.

Happy Clients

We had been thinking about making a Trust.  We have had a Will for years but as we have gotten older, we felt a trust was the way to go. O’Donnell Law Office was recommended to us and we were very happy with everything Deirdre and her staff did for us and taking care of all our personal property and end of Life wishes. We would recommend O’Donnell Law Office to anyone thinking about getting a Trust prepared for their peace of mind.

We recently used Deirdre O’Donnell and her legal team for our estate planning needs and found them extremely helpful and professional. Our legal work was handled efficiently and all of our questions were fully resolved and communicated clearly by the knowledgeable staff. We feel very confident in recommending O’Donnell Law Center to our friends and family for help in their legal matters.

My wife and I had the O'Donnell Law Center do our last will and testament. Deirdre and her staff were great to work with. After an initial question and answer session they pretty much did all the work.  They are courteous, professional, and very competent, and we greatly enjoyed and appreciated working with them. We would definitely recommend this law firm to our friends.

Our hours of operation are from 9 until 5, Monday through Friday, and we schedule in-person, in-home and zoom appointments.
